We are deeply saddened by the news of passing of Mr. Andrzej Gędłek, National Director of PAC IL Division due to the coronavirus. He was a devoted activist for the Polish community and he will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

Funeral mass for the deceased Andrzej Gędłek will be celebrated on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 19 (7 pm) at the Shrine of Our Lady of Ludźmierz in Munster, Indiana at the of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers. Andrzej Gedlek has been a member of the Polish American Congress for many years. He served as a Vice President and more recently as National Director representing Illinois Division. Over the past four years he was part of the team that worked on several initiatives aimed at enhancing image of Polish Community in Chicago as well as initiatives to save and retain historical knowledge and awareness of major events in Polish and Polonia history. We could always count on Andrzej remembering major and minor historical events and their anniversaries. Andrzej played a very significant role in the Celebration of the 1050 th Anniversary of Poland’s Christendom. As PAC Illinois Division National Director he was one of the most energetic, active and innovative members the Board. He was totally dedicated to defending and enhancing the image of Poland and Polonia. We will never forget his contributions and we all will miss this true Polish Patriot who represented best values in Polonia.

Zmarł Andrzej Gędłek, Dyrektor Krajowy Kongresu Polonii Amerykańskiej na Stan Illinois.
Andrzej Gędłek był wieloletnim członkiem Kongresu Polonii Amerykańskiej. Pełnił funkcję Wiceprezesa, a ostatnio Dyrektora Krajowego reprezentującego oddział stanu Illinois. W ciągu ostatnich czterech lat był członkiem zespołu, który pracował nad kilkoma inicjatywami mającymi na celu poprawę wizerunku społeczności polskiej w Chicago, a także inicjatywami mającymi na celu ocalenie i zachowanie wiedzy historycznej i świadomości o najważniejszych wydarzeniach w historii Polski i Polonii. Zawsze mogliśmy liczyć na to, że Andrzej będzie pamiętał o najważniejszych, jak i o mniej znanych, wydarzeniach historycznych i ich rocznicach. Andrzej odegrał bardzo ważną rolę w obchodach 1050-tej rocznicy Polskiego Chrześcijaństwa. Jako Dyrektor Krajowy KPA na Stan Illinois był jednym z najbardziej energicznych, aktywnych i innowacyjnych członków zarządu. Był całkowicie oddany obronie i poprawie wizerunku Polski i Polonii. Nigdy nie zapomnimy jego wkładu i będzie nam brakować tak prawdziwego polskiego patrioty, który reprezentował najlepsze wartości Polonii.”
