The Polish American Congress is grateful to President Biden for stopping in Poland during his trip to Europe and recognizing Poland’s significance as a crucial ally on the eastern flank of NATO. Poland is now on the front line of the crisis that has unfolded as a result of the brutal Russian invasion of Ukraine. In Rzeszów, the President could see first-hand the Polish efforts to help the Ukrainian refugees. We appreciate the kind words the President had for the generosity of the Polish people, who now have welcomed over two million Ukrainian refugees into their homes, and we fully agree that Poland and other countries in the region should not face that burden alone. We commend President Biden’s commitment to assign an additional one billion of dollars to humanitarian efforts and hope that these funds will be distributed according to the needs of the Ukrainian refugees in an equitable manner among Poland and other countries providing assistance.
